Coordinate Measuring Machines Designed to Support Complex Parts
May 1, 2017
AIMS Metrology is inviting manufacturers attending EASTEC to take a look at its Revolution Series LM and HB coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). "The CMMs, manufactured and assembled in the U.S., have been engineered to help companies tackle the challenges associated with digitized shop floors, higher accuracy and reliability standards for complex parts, big data and automation," said a company spokesperson.
AIMS' laboratory-grade Revolution LM can be equipped for touch or non-contact inspection. The LM features the Renishaw REVO 2 scanning probe. "The precision measuring head and probe system triple productivity, collecting data at a rate of 4,000 points per second," said the company spokesperson. "Infinite positioning and 5-axis motion allows users to access complex features while flexible tip sensing enhances accuracy.
"For 5-axis touch trigger applications the LM is also available with Renishaw's PH20, which increases throughput three times faster than traditional indexing heads and offers faster calibration and infinite positioning. Linear motors provide submicron accuracy while eliminating the maintenance and downtime associated with belt and pulley designs. Modus software supports offline programming, true 5-axis measurement programs, full simulation, crash detection and the capability to leverage large amounts of product information."
"The Revolution HB, designed and built around Renishaw PH20 5-axis technology, is the only mobile 5-axis CMM on the market," said the spokesperson. "A unique undercarriage equipped with one steer and two stationary wheels allows two operators to easily move the unit anywhere on the shop floor." A 110/220 volt outlet eliminates the need for shop air. A polymer-cast base includes built-in vibration resistance and thermal stability. Mechanical bearings add additional protection from the harsh shop floor environment.
EASTEC visitors can also see live demonstrations of AIMS' CMM technology at Able Machine Tool Sales Inc. located in Agawam, MA. The distributor will hold an open house for EASTEC visitors May 16-18 from 11 AM to 5 PM. Lunch and dinner will be served daily. For more information visit www.ablemts.com.
