Caron Engineering provides a product line of solutions that communicate directly with the CNC machine control to enhance and automate the machining process. At EASTEC 2017 (booth 5452), Caron will showcase a Tsugami B0205 Swiss-type machine with FANUC Robot unload and Keyence Laser measurement technology. The machine will be outfitted with Caron Engineering hardware and software solutions for live demonstrations. These solutions from Caron Engineering will reduce cycle time, allow unattended operation, provide machine process diagnostics, eliminate operator data entry errors and much more.
During cutting, Caron Engineering's Tool Monitoring Adaptive Control System with multi-process monitoring capability (TMAC MP) will be optimizing the cutting process on the Tsugami. The milling will be enhanced by TMAC MP's Adaptive Control feature. With adaptive control, TMAC learns the optimum power for each tool and continuously maintains a constant tool load. This results in typical cycle time savings of 20% - 50%, along with longer cutter life, and more machine uptime.
The part will be unloaded using a FANUC Robot. The robot will place the part in the Keyence Laser 2-D measurement gauge. The Keyence Gauge will send the measurement data to Caron Engineering's AutoComp software to process the data and determine if any tool offsets need to be adjusted to keep the part in tolerance. AutoComp will automatically make the necessary adjustments.
The Tsugami B0205 will also be equipped with Caron Engineering's Smart Light system, to provide easy assessment of the part's progress. The CEI Smart Light system is a very intuitive status light system, that can be programmed to show any machine status. In addition to the visual status indicators the light provides, there is also a programmable audible alarm, which can be set to alert for any machine indication.
A DTect-IT vibration sensor will be attached near the spindle on the Tsugami to monitor spindle bearing health for analysis. Caron Engineering's latest product DTect-IT uses cutting-edge technology to monitor any area of concern on the CNC machine tool or fixture. DTect-IT can identify machine irregularities using vibration, strain and power sensors, combined with several monitoring modes including limit analysis, bearing analysis, fault detection and data collection analysis.
In addition to the on-machine demonstrations, Caron Engineering will have two product kiosks set up in the booth to demonstrate the full capabilities of all its products. The kiosk demonstrations will include Caron Engineering's Tool Connect System. Tool Connect is a tool identification system that automatically transfers tool presetter data to the machine control, utilizing RFID tags in toolholders. Tool connect stores tool data on the RFID tags, which can be read anywhere. When the tool is removed, all tool life info is updated automatically from the CNC control to the RFID tag.
