Local High School Students Tour COE Press Equipment on Manufacturing Day
October 21, 2016COE Press Equipment hosted 40 students from Utica Community Schools’ (UCS) Stevenson High School on Manufacturing Day, October 7, providing them insight into the types of careers available in manufacturing. The tour began with an overview of COE’s business, presented by COO Linda Rosati. The students were then split into smaller groups that rotated through informative sessions from the sales, engineering, machining and assembly departments.
“Over the next decade, nearly 3.5 million manufacturing jobs will need to be filled yet the interest in a manufacturing career has waned,” said Rosati. “We wanted these students to see the diversity of jobs available in this field and help open their eyes to the myriad career opportunities available through small manufacturers such as COE.”
All of the students who participated in the event were from the school’s Machine Shop and Engineering Design classes. At the end of the tour, students received a specially printed COE t-shirt and a welcome for the school to return next year.
