Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) has been named an Innovation Center under the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association (RIMA) Manufacturing Technology Innovation Program to help the development and growth of Rhode Island small manufacturing companies.
The technology program is providing matching grant funding to companies seeking access to the expertise they need to become more efficient, productive and profitable. It is made possible by a grant awarded to RIMA from the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation's Innovation Program.
Precision machining optimization, reverse engineering projects, 3-D printing with metals and plastics, business assessments, prototyping or other product development assistance will be conducted in collaboration with CCAT's Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC).
"CCAT is proud to be named an Innovation Center as part of RIMA's Manufacturing Technology Innovation Program, which is designed to further the growth of smaller manufacturers," said Elliot Ginsberg, CCAT President and CEO. "As a regional and national resource, our Advanced Manufacturing Center offers customized support with our team of technology professionals and access to the latest technology advances in 3-D printing with metals and plastics as well as precision machining."
"The Manufacturing Technology Innovation Program is helping to grow the Rhode Island manufacturing sector by increasing affordable access to advanced manufacturing facilities and expanding supply chains for smaller enterprises," stated Bill McCourt, President and CEO, RIMA. "CCAT's strong technical reputation and experience working with smaller companies make it a perfect partner for this new program."
Under the program, RIMA reimburses the lesser amount of 50% or $15,000 of the cost of a contract between a qualifying Rhode Island manufacturing company and CCAT. Companies are responsible for covering any costs above the reimbursement and contract directly with CCAT.
"With our expertise in the aerospace and defense, biomedical and alternative energy manufacturing sectors and our experience supporting smaller manufacturing companies in the region, we look forward to partnering with RIMA to bolster manufacturing innovation and growth through this exciting new program," said Ginsberg.
