Sinker EDM Machine

"Advanced controls, EDM automation capabilities and enhanced power supply make sinker EDM machines the ideal choice for tight-tolerance applications, including die and mold," said a company spokesperson. The newest model from MC Machinery Systems is the EA12PS for medium-sized sinker machining needs. Constructed as a fixed table traveling-column design with a three-sided drip tank for easy operator access, the EA12PS's tank can be set up just below the table surface with fluid circulation to better control thermal stability during job set-up.

The new Z-axis design uses ball screw and LM way components, which help provide greater positioning accuracy during high-speed jump machining. The jump speeds are 25 m/min (984"/min) with 1.6 G acceleration. The AC Smart Servo System uses 0.05 µm motor resolution with the same resolution in the all-axes absolute feedback linear scales.

The machine's M700 series Mitsubishi Advance control has improved overall performance with Fuzzy-Logic control. The new Fuzzy-Pro 3 Plus provides enhanced machining performance with Optimum High-Speed Jump and Expert Rib machining settings to help improve no-flush machining conditions.

Intelligent Digital Power Master (IDPM) Adaptive Control is part of the FP80PS power supply that uses a detecting discharge pulse to reduce abnormal discharges which reduces graphite electrode wear by as much as 40%. The FP80PS power supply also features the HPS circuit, which is a system for machining exotic materials such as PCD and CBN. It can also reduce copper electrode wear when machining tungsten carbide.
