New Vacuums Designed for the Shop

FEIN Power Tools, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA, has introduced its newly redesigned Turbo I, Turbo II and Turbo II HEPA series of professional shop vacuums with new features and improvements. All three models have the same basic features and specifications with the exception of filters, weight and tank capacities. "Each model's body is made of reinforced ABS plastic for durability and have a rimmed flat storage area on top that provides a handy place for frequently used portable tools and accessories," said a company spokesperson. "The body design is compact, and the large wheels rotate 360° for good maneuverability." An accessory holder plus cord and hose storage hooks are located on the rear of the unit.

Portable power tools can plug into a convenient automatic power outlet located on the front that has a power-on delay feature designed to prevent current spikes. "An adjustable tool coupling for the hose end attaches to the dust ports of portable tools for optimum control of suction power and efficient dust extraction, especially when sanding," said the spokesperson.

Each model has a 1,100 W motor that drives a high-performance turbine providing a 151 cfm flow rate (71 I/s) and 98.4" of water lift (245 mbar vacuum). "The vacuums are very quiet with a sound pressure level of only 66 DB. The protective filter cartridge makes filter changes unnecessary when wet vacuuming liquids," said the spokesperson. The Turbo I weighs 17.9 lbs. with a container capacity of 5.8 gal, and the Turbo II and Turbo II HEPA weigh 20 lbs. with a volume capacity of 8.4 gal.

Three flat pleated filters are offered including a HEPA filter. "The HEPA filter is recommended when cleaning ultra fine dust, plus it exceeds OSHA requirements for use where lead paint dust and debris is present," said the spokesperson. "Fleece filter bags are high tear resistant and hold 2-3 times more dust than paper filter bags. A permanent filter is available as an option in place of filter bags. The 13-foot suction hose provides a large operating radius yet is easily stored on the hose hooks when not in use. A wide selection of optional nozzle types and brushes add versatility."
