Rollomatic offers a 5-axis CNC tool grinder for large endmills/drills. "In-depth tests in the field have shown that the modified GrindSmart 528XW with SmartChanger lends itself ideally for increased feedrates and higher productivity due to larger horsepower and higher rigidity of the machine base," said a company spokesperson.
According to the company, key features include:
- Carvbide endmill 4-flute, cycle time: 11 min.
- Dia. 20 mm (3/4") with 27 mm (1.1/8") cutting length
- Fluting with a Tyrolit D54 XP-P grinding wheel
- Razor-sharp cutting edge with polish wheel
- Feedrate first pass 80 mm/min, second pass 160 mm/min.
- Cutting speed 18 m/s
- Sticking of wheel each five pieces; spindle load between 27% and 34%
- Six-station wheel changer with HSK50E arbors, tested for repetitive concentricity of less than 2 microns
- 20 HP synchronous direct-drive grinding spindles offer constant RPM with no chatter marks in flutes, as opposed to conventional asynchronous motors, providing a super-sharp cutting edge
- Enlarged coolant supply 30 gal/min.
- SmartChanger changes wheel packs during automatic tool change without losing cycle time.
