Totes Have Snap-In Dunnage Feature

PolyFlex Products offers a series of patented industry-standard totes using the trade name Flex-Tote. Flex-Totes have a patented snap-in/snap-out system that locks in removable custom dunnage for securely holding parts and components during shipping, in-process handling and washing cycles. "The Flex-Tote tray design provides more interior space than other like-sized standard totes so custom dunnage can be designed to hold more parts and components, thus helping reduce shipping costs," said a company spokesperson.

The Flex-Tote snap-in/snap-out dunnage feature allows it to be designed to present products in an efficient and ergonomic way. It can be repurposed when the intended task is completed by removing the dunnage and replacing it with new. Inserts can be made by either injection molding or thermoforming processes.

"Unlike the Flex-Totes, standard tote dunnage must be secured by Velcro, screws or riveting, which can become a hindrance and add assembly costs while also creating problems when washing," said the spokesperson. "Flex-Totes have higher impact and in-process compression strength than standard totes."

Flex-Totes are available in standard sizes of 12" W X 15" L and 15" W X 24" L. They feature an ergo-friendly design that is easy to grip and handle due to built-in hand holds located on the long side, while each short side has slots for plastic inserts for holding Kanban cards or other identification labels. Although their primary function is to hold custom dunnage, they can also be used for bulk loading and storage. A variety of tray and insert color options are offered.
