Large Work Envelope VMC Within a Compact Design

Kitamura Machinery, manufacturer of precision horizontal, vertical and 5-axis machining centers, has introduced Mycenter-3XD, its latest compact, high capacity vertical machining center.

According to the company, Kitamura's Mycenter-3XD is designed for space saving flexibility and ease of use for the operator. The Mycenter-3XD has a table size of 500 x 800 mm (19.7" x 33.9") along with 760 x 510 x 510 mm (30" x 20.1" x 20.1") X,Y,Z travels, for small to medium sized workpieces. It features high speed rapid feedrates of 48 m/min (1,889 IPM) X and Y, 42 m/min (1,654 IPM) Z on heavy duty cross roller linear guide ways combined with stiff cast construction.

"The Mycenter-3XD's Meehanite cast C-frame construction ensures rigidity, durability and stability. All contact surfaces are hand scraped for precise alignment, fit and performance, ensuring high quality and attention to detail in the manufacturing process. Heavy duty cross roller linear guide ways offer the strength necessary to carry heavier loads and power through heavier cuts," said a company spokesperson.

According to the company, a dual contact, 12,000 RPM, 30 HP AC spindle system is standard. The NRG belt drive means transmissible torque and power from the motor to the spindle with less vibration and noise, designed for smooth operation, reliability and stiffness. A 15,000 RPM spindle is an available option.

The Mycenter-3XD's ATC has a 24 tool capacity designed to reduce idle time and boost productivity. A 30 tool ATC is offered as an available option.

Chip evacuation is ensured with standard base wash system, internal chip augers and a scraper type chip conveyor keeping the large workspace free of chips and contaminants. The standard scraper type conveyor can be installed on either the right or left-hand side of the machine, depending on space requirements.

The Mycenter-3XD is equipped with the Kitamura Arumatik-Jr. CNC Controller. The Arumatik-Jr. uses high speed machining functions and standard features including 675 block look-ahead, 1280 meters memory, USB Memory interface and Ethernet I/F.
