Multiple VSM Gauge Measures Seat and Guide Geometry

Euro-Tech, the exclusive North American distributor of Knaebel gauging products, offers its new multiple VSM gauge. Designed to measure seat and guide geometry, this device features seat roundness, run-out valve guide to seat, valve guide diameter and valve guide cylinder form.
"The mandrel rests on the valve seat and is guided below the valve guide by a separate clamping piece," said a company spokesperson. "The guide of the mandrel is equipped with three inductive transducers, which feature diameter, center point and center axis. In this position, the mandrel rotates more than 360° and verifies the features."
The clamping piece is fastened to the O.D. of the guide, and fixing is achieved by a lever with spring (no tools).
"Tool life can be improved by using Knaebel systems to measure seat contour, seat form and seat distance to deck face as well as diameters for cylinder heads," said the spokesperson. "These instruments will aid in today's demands for decreasing tolerances."
