NIMS has announced the accreditation of the Machine Tooling Technics Program at Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC). "Officially accredited on Dec. 11, 2014, the CVTC team not only met NIMS standards, but it also set the bar for exceptional metalworking training in the state of Wisconsin," said a NIMS spokeseperson.
"With this accreditation, CVTC affirms its commitment to uphold national industry standards as set forth by NIMS, further enabling the college program to support the needs of students, the local community and employers within it, and to the metalworking industry at large," said the spokesperson.
The process began in 2013 and culminated in an on-site evaluation occurring at the college in the fall of 2014. The comprehensive audit was led by NIMS Lead Evaluator Joan Cook (Executive Director, RICOWI, Inc.) who was assisted by Ken Heins (CEO/President, KLH Industries, Inc.) and Jacob Statz (Program Director, Madison Area Technical College).
"Securing accreditation was a thorough, enlightening, rigorous process that helped us to validate and improve our program," said Department Chair and Instructor Dave Thompson.
Chippewa Valley's accreditation focuses on entry-level skills from the NIMS Machining Level I National Standard, with an emphasis on CNC lathe and mill operations.
