Labeling Solution Offers Expanded Color Print Capability

Loftware, Inc., has announced significant enhancements to its 100% browser-based, all-in-one enterprise labeling solution, releasing Loftware Spectrum 2.5.2. "Adding to the label design capability, enterprise integration, intelligent on-demand printing and innovative architecture, Spectrum 2.5.2 offers new features including new cab and PCL 5c drivers for color printing," said a company spokesperson. Spectrum 2.5.2 is also equipped with live data in design, new label image output options, added language support for global deployments and Linux printer support.

"The printer drivers offer enhanced print performance and maximize network traffic, and they remove the need to install drivers locally," said the spokesperson. "PCL 5c offers multicolor printing to many inkjet and office printers while the cab driver enables support for the cab XC series two-color thermal printers and the A+ series, the EOS series and the Mach4 thermal printers."

According to the company, supporting cab printers allows customers in the chemical and related industries to address GHS regulations. "This new capability enhances previously released character level formatting capabilities to use additional colors to call attention to allergens and warnings on food and beverage labels," said the spokesperson.

"The need for color printing is becoming more pervasive as companies look to meet the challenges of the Global Harmonized System (GHS), reduce their dependence on preprinted label stock and adhere to evolving brand standards," said Loftware Director of Product Management Scott Johnson.

In addition to expanded color print capability, Spectrum 2.5.2 extends label design flexibility with enhanced live data in design capabilities. "This allows users to position fields and judge spatial relationships between objects on a label to see exactly what they are printing, to save time and to reduce errors in the label design process," said the spokesperson. "This release also introduces a new image device driver, which allows users to output label formats and save the image for validation or to email label images to speed the review and approval process." Spectrum 2.5.2 also introduces localized language support for Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese.

"Spectrum provides integration and flexibility," said Mark Wick, Loftware VP of Software Development. "Now with version 2.5.2, color print capabilities are offered to help our customers meet emerging regulatory and business requirements."

A customer case study and webinar are available on Loftware's website.
