CNC Lathe for Hard Materials
October 1, 2014
MC Machinery Systems has introduced the new LT-400 CNC lathe. "Designed for machining hard materials, the machine's inherent versatility and rigidity also covers a wide range of other applications," said a company spokesperson. "Durability is a key design point, providing long-term performance and reliability."
The one-piece machine casting is constructed of FC30 Meehanite cast iron, creating a stable and precise structure.
Features include:
- A 30° slant bed provides a support base for the spindle head, turret and tail stock
- The X and Z axes use heavy-duty, zero-backlash linear roller style guide ways for rigidity, with high-speed feedrates of 787 IPM in the X-axis and 945 IPM in the Z-axis
- Precise P4-grade spindle bearings are designed to maximize stability and ensure cutting accuracy over a long service life
- The servo motor drives a servo turret, providing an adjacent tool-to-tool time of 0.9 seconds and opposite tool change time of 2 seconds
- The chip removal system removes the large volume of chips generated by the turning process. The lathe features a full-enclosure design preventing chips and coolant from splashing outside the machine while providing a safe and clean work environment.
- The Mitsubishi M70 CNC control utilizes a 64-bit RISC processing hard-drive unit with a high-speed fiber optic backplane.
