New Machine Models for a Wider Range of Workpieces

Dörries Scharmann Technology GmbH (DST), a subsidiary of the Swiss-based Starrag Group, offers two new models for its ECOSPEED range, the ECOSPEED 20210 and ECOSPEED F 1040. The ECOSPEED range is designed for high-performance machining of aluminum structural components.

The ECOSPEED 20210 is a column milling machine with X travel of 21,800 mm and Y travel of 2,200 mm with an integrated pallet change facility for loading parallel to the main processing time. Typical applications include wing paneling and stringers.

The ECOSPEED F 1040 features a stationary crossbeam and can handle pallets up to a size of 1,000 x 4,000 mm. The machine is suited for machining narrow wing ribs. All machines in the ECOSPEED range feature 120 kW, 30,000 RPM, 83 Nm motor spindles and have the option of a C-axis, allowing the use of automatic interchangeable angular milling heads.

"DST developed the ECOSPEED machining center with patented parallel kinematics," said a company spokesperson. "Every year, 15 machines from the ECOSPEED series are produced, tailored to the specific application due to the modular overall concept. With these exclusive parallel kinematic machines, users in the aerospace industry are now milling very large and challenging aluminum components from solid metal."
