Sicom Industries Breaks Ground on Houston Manufacturing Facility
May 1, 2014
Sicom Industries broke ground Monday, February 17th, on a state-of-the-art fully air-conditioned CNC manufacturing facility. Sicom Industries is a manufacturer of oil and gas safety equipment and critical parts for the defense industry. Houston Council Member Jerry Davis and Nicole Smothers, from City of Houston Planning and Development, were present at the ground breaking. Councilman Davis and Michael Chester, President of Sicom Industries, had the opportunity to discuss Sicom's plans for expansion, and how the City of Houston can work with Sicom to grow their business.
Sicom Industries Ltd. was founded in 1986 to meet a growing market for high-tech, precision production manufacturing. Initially, two computer numerically controlled (CNC) mills were bought, which was the beginning of the Vancouver facility. Sicom currently employs over 75 personnel and will be employing CNC machinist and manufacturing engineers in its new Houston location. Sicom is expecting to expand its business significantly over the next three to five years in the oil and gas sector.
Sicom is currently located in Vancouver, Canada, in a 30,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. Sicom's new facility, located at 19705 Aldine Westfield, Houston, TX, 77338, will be operational Fall 2014.
