Walter has launched the Groovtec GD axial grooving tool G5111, along with the G5041 reinforced parting blade and G5042 deep-parting blade, as well as product additions to the G5011 grooving system.
The grooving system features a new insert design with a double serration profile for positively secure locking in the insert seat to increase stability and process reliability. The positive fit effectively absorbs lateral forces during longitudinal and copy turning. A raised center serration prevents incorrect installation.
Additions to the product range include radial grooving and groove-turning tools G5011 in shank sizes of 1.25", 12 mm x 12 mm, and 32 mm x 32 mm, and Walter Capto G5011-C-P tools in C3 to C6 sizes.
The face grooving tool G5111 is the newest introduction to the Groovtec GD family. The G5111 system is introduced with cutting depths of 12 mm, 21 mm, and 25 mm, an axial grooving diameter from 34 mm to 500 mm, and shank sizes of 25 mm x 25 mm and 1".
The benefits of the G5111 include increased cutting parameters, increased process reliability, and improved service life due to the stable Groovtec GD double serration profile, and maximum productivity and tool life because of the wear-resistant Tigertec Gold grades.
The Groovtec GD parting blades G5041..R/L-P are reinforced parting blades for cutting and grooving with or without coolant. These are available in right-hand, left-hand, and contra versions, and feature conventional blade heights of 26 mm to 32 mm and insert widths of 3 mm and 4 mm. The tool body accepts double-edged GD26 cutting inserts with a double serration clamping profile.
The Groovtec GD deep-parting blades G5042/G5042-P are conventional (nonreinforced) blades for deep grooving and parting off. The G5042 insert widths are from 3 mm to 6 mm, and the G5042-P insert widths are from 3 mm to 4 mm. Blade height is 26 mm and 32 mm, and the maximum parting-off diameter is from 80 mm to 160 mm. The tool body accepts single-edged and double-edged GD26 cutting inserts with a double serration.
