"Ready-to-Ship Blanks help shops shorten set-up time, reduce scrap, and increase overall machining throughput 25% or more by eliminating material prep. Blanks arrive machine-ready for production and are ideal for short-run production machining, tooling, and prototype applications," said Ben Belzer, President and CEO of TCI Precision Metals.
Precision blanks eliminate the need for in-house sawing, grinding, flattening, squaring operations, and outside processing. Blanks are consistent part-to-part, which reduces set-up time. In the case of flat blanks, the production process also alleviates residual stress in the material, resulting in reduced part movement during finish machining. Each blank is deburred, cleaned, and individually packaged to avoid damage during shipping. Ready-to-Ship Blanks arrive square, flat, and parallel as close as ±.002" of specified dimensions.
Ready-to-Ship Blanks are available in two configurations-precision machined six-side or two-side. Six-side blanks are ground or milled on two sides for thickness and flatness, then milled on four sides to close tolerance width and length. Two-side blanks are ground or milled on two sides for thickness and flatness and cut to width and length.
Ready-to-Ship metal blanks ship the same day or next day and arrive ready to go, directly from receiving, to finish machining.
