Lucifer Furnaces has announced the successful delivery of a custom-built, AMS2750-compliant general-purpose box furnace for a well-known U.S.-based space company supporting advanced aerospace and spaceflight programs.
The furnace, a Lucifer 5000 Series Heavy Duty Industrial Furnace, was engineered specifically to support high-temperature processing while maintaining strict temperature uniformity and control-key requirements for aerospace and space manufacturing.
Key specifications include:
- Model: HL5-V60-AMS2750
- AMS2750 compliant: Class 3
- Temperature rating: 2,300 °F
- Chamber dimensions: 36" H x 36" W x 60" D
- Automated forced cooling system
- Roller rail assembly with external charge cart.
This configuration provides ample working volume while enabling repeatable, tightly controlled thermal performance suitable for critical aerospace alloys and components.
Following the initial purchase order, the customer expanded the system to include a forced cooling package on both furnaces ordered, further enhancing productivity and operational flexibility.
The forced cooling system was engineered to significantly reduce cooling times while maintaining control and safety. Key features include:
- Blower-assisted exhaust system mounted through the roof of the chamber
- Motor-actuated, insulated exhaust damper housing
- Makeup air inlet through the lower rear wall with insulated damper.
The system can be:
- Activated manually via a push button on the control panel
- Engaged automatically through a programmable controller relay.
This design allows heating and cooling cycles to be seamlessly integrated, helping the customer improve throughput without compromising temperature control or furnace longevity.
A key driver for this project was long-term process stability. The furnace's robust mechanical design and thermal architecture were developed to stay within AMS2750 tolerances for years, reducing downtime, minimizing recalibration events, and supporting consistent compliance over the life of the equipment. This focus on durable, stable furnace construction is especially critical for aerospace and space applications, where repeatability, traceability, and reliability directly impact program success.
