MAG Automotive, LLC, provider of advanced manufacturing systems, has announced the launch of the SPECHT 500 NG, a next-generation HMC designed and built in Detroit and manufactured in the United States.
"At a time when manufacturers are prioritizing supply chain security, quality, and domestic production, the SPECHT 500 NG delivers a powerful combination of American manufacturing strength, advanced engineering, and proven MAG reliability," said a company spokesperson.
The SPECHT 500 NG is engineered for 24/7 production environments, offering durability, ease of maintenance, and high performance. Its rigid box-in-box design and precision manufacturing processes offer enhanced positioning accuracy, enabling increased part quality across long production runs.
The SPECHT 500 NG features a spacious work envelope (630 x 630 x 860 mm) and supports multiple configurations, including:
- 4-axis and full 5-axis (B over A-axis) machining
- High-performance rotary tables with torque motors and glass scales
- Optional pallet changer.
A range of MAG-built motorized spindles provides the speed, torque, and reliability required for demanding applications.
Designed for efficiency, the SPECHT 500 NG integrates advanced automation capabilities:
- Front and top loading options for gantries and robots
- Standard 44-tool magazine with optional expansion up to 121 tools
- Automated tool identification and broken tool detection
- Compact, high-speed pallet changing system
- Custom HMI screens for ease of operation, along with I4.0 options for real-time process monitoring and simple FIS connectivity to health and operational data.
These features are designed to help manufacturers increase uptime, reduce cycle times, and optimize throughput.
The machine incorporates intelligent energy-saving technologies, including:
- Regenerative drive systems with average consumption of just 24 kVA
- Servo mechanical intensive design combined with start-stop hydraulics limits heat generation and wasted energy
- Automatic shutdown of auxiliary systems during idle periods
- Minimum Quantity Lubrication and coolant system options for machine, cell, or plant-based filtration to limit water consumption and waste streams.
These innovations help reduce operating costs while supporting sustainable manufacturing practices.
Equipped with a FANUC 31i-B CNC (standard) or optional Siemens SINUMERIK I control, the SPECHT 500 NG offers enhanced processing, multi-axis capability, and intuitive operation. A user-friendly interface and centralized maintenance access help simplify daily operation and service.
"The SPECHT 500 NG is more than a next-generation machining center-it is a commitment to American manufacturing," said Michael Judge, Director of Sales at MAG Automotive. "By designing and building this platform in Detroit, we are delivering the performance our customers expect with the quality, responsiveness, and supply chain confidence that comes with a U.S.-built machine."
The SPECHT 500 NG is available now through MAG Automotive's global sales and service network.
