Mini Discs Join the Norton Vortex Rapid Prep Flap Disc Line

New Mini 2" and 3" Norton Vortex Rapid Prep Non-Woven Flap Discs

Saint-Gobain Abrasives has expanded its Norton Vortex Rapid Prep Non-Woven Flap Disc Line with the introduction of 2" and 3" "Mini" sizes featuring Norton patented Vortex agglomerate grain, an industry-first that provides a practical solution from roughing to finishing in one operation for difficult-to-reach, uneven areas, according to the company.

"Norton Vortex Rapid Prep Flap Discs last longer while simultaneously producing significantly increased cutting rates and smear-free finishes," said a company spokesperson. "Norton Vortex agglomerated grain technology enables the cutting power of a coarser grit while producing a finer finish, in one abrasives disc solution."

"We are pleased to announce the expanded Norton Vortex Rapid Prep Non-Woven Flap Disc Line, providing customers with a full range of disc sizes for reducing grinding steps and increasing productivity," said Michael Radaelli, Senior Product Manager, Norton|Saint-Gobain." The new Mini Flap Discs can reach tighter, more difficult-to-access areas, and offer operators an ergonomic solution for light grinding applications. For maximum operator comfort, the Vortex Rapid Prep Flap Discs provide forgiveness and reduced vibration on uneven surfaces."

Suited for light blending, stripping, edge breaking and surface prep applications in key industries such as metal fabrication and welding, aerospace, transportation, energy, and construction, Norton Non-Woven Flap Discs feature 3D non-woven abrasive layers. This design enables uniform finishing with consistently low surface finish Ra. In addition, multiple layers of surface conditioning material provide added life, fewer disc changes for better efficiency, and reduced vibration.

The discs also feature Norton proprietary Clean Bond resin technology that promotes smear-free finishes, even on high nickel content alloys, and reduced loading when cutting aluminum and other softer metals. Norton Vortex Rapid Prep Flap Discs are suitable for cleaning, light deburring and processing TIF welded seams on stainless steel.

Norton Vortex Rapid Prep Type TR Flap Discs are offered in 2" and 3" sizes, and Type 27 Discs are offered in 4-1/2" x 7/8" and 4-1/2" x 5/8"-11 sizes. The full line is available in very fine, fine, medium, and coarse grits.
