Ellison Technologies to Represent Tornos in 15 States

(l-r) Jens Thing, CEO, Tornos Group, and Graham Hooper, CEO, Ellison Technologies, at the official signing at IMTS 2024.

Switzerland-based automatic lathe pioneer Tornos has selected advanced machining solutions provider Ellison Technologies as its partner in key United States markets. Ellison Technologies, headquartered in California, will represent Tornos in 15 U.S. states. The partnership was inked at IMTS in Chicago in September 2024

States covered by Ellison Technologies include Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Tornos has traditionally run a direct sales model in key markets, supported by a network of expert agents and distributors covering other parts of the world.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Tornos-with the support of Ellison Technologies-to deliver even greater value to our U.S. customers," said Tornos Group CEO Jens Thing. "With a team of expert engineers, equipment and automation specialists and project management professionals, Ellison Technologies has a proud history of helping manufacturers get the most from their technology investments."

That history dovetails with Tornos' own history dating back to 1880 and the birth of Swiss-type turning technology as well as the company's current position as a global manufacturer of CNC Swiss-type lathes, multispindle machines and precision machining centers for complex parts. With its worldwide sales and service network, Tornos offers solutions to customers in the target industries of automotive, medical and dental technology, micromechanics and electronics.

For 69 years, Ellison Technologies has been committed to the growth of the American manufacturing industry. Independent offices across the U.S. provide the company with a local market focus and the flexibility to serve each customer's specific needs. Ellison Technologies prioritizes the introduction of technologies that strengthen customers' ability to compete in the markets they serve.

"Whether the solution involves a stand-alone machine, multiprocess equipment or an integrated manufacturing system with robotic automation, Ellison Technologies' goal remains the same: to optimize throughput and quality at the lowest per-part manufacturing cost," said a company spokesperson. "Service and parts engineers provide post-installation support aimed at optimizing machine availability, productivity and cost of ownership."

"Tornos is renowned as a manufacture of Swiss-style turning machines designed to produce parts requiring extreme precision and quality," said Graham Hooper, CEO, Ellison Technologies. "We are thrilled to represent Tornos in these key markets and look forward to showing manufacturers how Tornos' customer-centric technical solutions can help them thrive in an increasingly competitive market environment."
