Secure Holding of Round, Square and Asymmetrical Parts
January 1, 2025
HWR Workholding's INOLine platform provides robust holding of round, square and irregularly shaped asymmetrical workpieces. The products can simplify and streamline processes for the majority of turning operations, but prove especially valuable when working with thin-walled, delicate parts, the company reported.
INOFlex 4-jaw chucks form the foundation for the INOLine platform. These chucks incorporate a compensating technology that allows each pair of jaws to move independent from the other. This helps ensure that each individual jaw is in optimal contact with the workpiece. It also causes the chuck to automatically center a workpiece as it closes. INOFlex chucks are offered in powered and manual models, as well as with a through hole or closed center. In addition to turning chucks, the INOFlex line includes manual stationary milling chucks and manual mill-turn chucks.
INOZet pendulum bridges further extend the INOLine platform. These extensions allow manufacturers to quickly and easily double the number of jaws on their existing 3-jaw and 4-jaw chucks. By increasing the points of contact, the clamping force is much more evenly distributed across the whole of the workpiece. This provides an advantage when securing forged or cast blanks with irregular surfaces or thin-walled parts prone to deformation.
To further assist with avoid deformation, HWR developed the INOTop clamping system. INOTop applies gentle external force to center the part, but then uses internal pressure to secure it during machining. As with INOZet, the INOTop system can easily be implemented with most existing chucks, providing companies with a convenient and cost-effective means to upgrade their capabilities.
