Updated Interactive Standards Viewer
January 1, 2025
As part of its continuing expansion of job roles in new disciplines for Smart Training Solutions framework and technology users, NIMS has added more content to its signature Interactive Standards Viewer (ISV), including new Smart Standards for Robotics, Assembly, Processing and Welding; and a new Experience Me videos.
New ISV Standards
The new standards reside in the ISV, a repository of its dynamic duty-based standards from which employers, educators and job seekers can explore.
Each of these new standards were developed in conjunction with industry experts to ensure they align with current job roles:
- Robotics-NIMS partnered with robotics vendor Universal Robotics (Novi, MI) and industry education provider Intelitek (Derry, NH) to develop the standards. Roles comprised in the standard include Robotics Operator, Robotics Programmer, Robotics Specialist and Robotics Technician.
- Assembly-Assembly standards were developed in partnership with several industry professionals. Standards for the roles of Assembler and Assembly Tester are published.
- Processing-Processing standards were developed in partnership with several industry professionals. Standards for the role of Process Operator are published.
- Welding-Welding standards were developed in partnership with several industry professionals. Standards for the role of Welding Technician are published.
Experience Me Videos
For people considering growing their careers or entering new pathways, NIMS is introducing Experience Me videos that give users the ability to experience the day-to-day duties of various job roles in actual workplaces. Launching with the CNC 5-axis Milling Operator job role, Experience Me videos will roll out continuously throughout the next several months.
Standard Validation Surveys
NIMS standards are dynamically updated to keep pace with industry with its smart framework and technology and by democratizing the validation process. Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) can survey these standards at any time to provide feedback. At IMTS 2024, NIMS will be giving attendees the ability to be a part of this very important process. SMEs attending the show can help keep ISV standards up to date by going to booth 121506 to survey standards. Participants will be rewarded a Chick-Fil-AT gift card for their support.
