Manford offers the VG-800 5-axis gantry design machining center with rotary table. It provides 5-axis simultaneous machining of complex parts in a single set-up and is suited for a variety of industries, including moldmaking, medical, aerospace and automotive.
The linear guideways on the X-axis are step deployed, providing high stability for the spindle head during high-speed cutting. XYZ axes are fitted with heavy-duty roller type linear guideways featuring low stick slip and low coefficient of friction for enhanced positioning accuracy. Rapid traverse rates on XYZ can reach 48 m/min.
With the gantry type machine structure, the workpiece can be fixed firmly during machining. The spindle head moves on the X- and Y-axis, and positioning accuracy is fully supported and not affected by the weight of the workpiece.
The twin Y axes are directly driven by an independent servo motor for increased accuracy.
The Manford VG-800 comes standard with a 15,000 RPM built-in spindle, making the machine suited for high-speed machining with enhanced finishes. The built-in spindle features a compact structure and is engineered to produce low vibration and low noise. Coolant jets around the spindle remove heat from the cutting tool and workpiece during machining.
"An optionally available 20,000 RPM spindle is directly driven by a built-in motor designed to eliminate backlash or vibration that may occur on a belt-driven or gear-driven spindle," said a company spokesperson.
Two types of CNC controls are available: HEIDENHAIN TNC-640 is standard and Siemens 840DSL is optional.
