AMT-The Association For Manufacturing Technology has announced recipients of the Albert W. Moore AMT Leadership Award. They are Lee B. Morris, Chairman, Morris Group Inc., and Brian J. Papke, Executive Advisor to the Board, Mazak Corporation.
Introduced in 2003, the Albert W. Moore AMT Leadership Award honors individuals who went above and beyond in their contributions and service to the industry, as well as to members of AMT-The Association For Manufacturing Technology.
This award is presented to an AMT member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, innovative ideas and outstanding guidance for the membership. The individual also shows commitment to professional development, support of AMT's mission and a drive to advance the entire manufacturing technology industry.
Lee B. Morris
Morris serves as Chairman of the Morris Group. Founded by Morris' father in 1941 as a small family business, the Morris Group now stands as the largest machine tool distribution network in North America.
Since 1968, Morris has been intimately involved with its development and growth, from working in sales and marketing to holding executive leadership positions such as CEO and chairman. Under his guidance, the Morris Group grew from a company of 25 in 1968 to more than 800 in 2018, and its name has become synonymous with American manufacturing. He has served on the board of directors at many manufacturing entities, including AMT, Microbest, American Precision Museum and Daniel Defense.
Brian J. Papke
Since joining Mazak Corp. in 1987 and becoming president in 1990, Papke has overseen its continued growth and evolution into one of the world's largest machine tool manufacturers, featuring 10 plants throughout the world.
Papke is a pioneer, bringing the first design and build of a Mazak product outside of Japan. More recently, he has worked with transformative technologies to upgrade the Mazak facility headquarters in Florence, KY, 16 times. In 2018, Papke was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Business Hall of Fame.
