VIA Expands Manufacturing Workforce Initiatives with GCAMP Acquisition

(l-r) Kevin Clay, GCAMP Board Member; Kathy Gilmore, VIA and GCAMP President; Kathleen Burley, VP of Education and Workforce Development for VIA; and Executive Director of GCAMP and Paul Rimington, GCAMP Board Member.

Valley Industrial Association (VIA) has announced its expansion of manufacturing workforce development by acquiring the Golden Corridor Advanced Manufacturing Partnership, or GCAMP, a Non-Profit 501c3 organization that works with schools to promote manufacturing careers and to create a sustainable manufacturing workforce. Rebranded as the GREATER CHICAGO Advanced Manufacturing Partnership, the organization will now serve the expanded area under the VIA.

"We are excited to have GCAMP as part of the VIA family. Our mission is to help companies through their challenges, and workforce is one of their biggest challenges. We are looking forward to bringing what GCAMP is doing in the Golden Corridor to the larger area that VIA serves," said Kathy Gilmore, President of VIA.

Kathleen Burley, Executive Director of GCAMP and the new Vice President of Education & Workforce Development for VIA, said that the additional support with VIA will strengthen the developing workforce initiatives in the region.

The VIA is a trade association for manufacturers, distributors and industrial companies and those that support them in the Chicagoland area.

GCAMP is a coalition of area manufacturers, educators, trade associations, workforce boards and municipal economic developers who support activities through grant sponsorship for educational programs and hands on work-based learning to promote advanced manufacturing as a solid career pathway.
