Starrag U.S. Relocates Warehouse, Increases Parts Availability

Warehouse Starrag

Udo Herbes, Managing Director, Starrag USA Inc.

As Starrag's U.S. market has expanded to include more machines and systems, the decision was made in mid-2019 to move the parts warehouse from Dallas, TX, to a site within 10 miles of Starrag's Hebron, KY, headquarters, offering greater logistic control of its spare parts inventory. The new location, positioned 15 minutes from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), also will help ensure prompt parts delivery to North American customers.

This relocation brings the Starrag parts warehouse closer to its special tooling and equipment warehouse, located at the Hebron headquarters. "Many machine installations and repairs not only need parts but also require special tooling. Having these warehouses within close proximity allows all parts and necessary tooling to be combined into one shipment, giving customers in North America access to comprehensive solutions without delay," said a company spokesperson.

Starrag also maintains central warehouses at its plants in Europe, as well as regional warehouses in Shanghai, China, and Seoul, South Korea. Starrag U.S. has full access to all Starrag warehouses globally, ensuring customers year-round access to parts, tools and equipment.

Starrag implemented processes for warehouse ramp-up to be ready on time for new machine configurations sold in North America. A monitoring system is in place to visibly record each step of a part order, from the customer's first request until delivery to the customer's door. This data is analyzed quarterly and used for continuous improvement. This information helps accurately adjust stock levels to meet customer demand, especially in urgent cases where speed and availability to deliver spare parts quickly is critical.

The new Starrag U.S. spare parts warehouse comprises 4,500 sq. ft. with room for expansion. The current parts inventory in the U.S. includes an inventory of 950 various parts, valued at $2.5 million.
