Fully Integrated System for Sheet Metal Operations
July 1, 2020
Mitsubishi Electric and ASTES4 have introduced LASORTING, a fully integrated multifunction system for sheet metal operations. It is capable of controlling the entire production process from loading, cutting, sorting and unloading through to the storage of the finished parts. The system can be seamlessly integrated in ERP and other management systems.
All loading, unloading and sorting processes are controlled by four cartesian grippers. After the parts have been laser cut, the cartesian grippers independently pick out the assigned parts. The parts are then sorted on pallets. The pallets can be stored in the warehouse, awaiting pick-up and shipment. Scraps are then removed by scrap removal forks.
The software automatically optimizes and manages the production process through to storage, without the user having to intervene. The user only has to select the pallets being used and everything proceeds automatically as a single production order-manage various materials, part quantities, sorting and storage-based on purchase orders and deliveries.
Each gripper is capable of using vacuum or magnetic tools in a variety of shapes and sizes. These tools are automatically changed to suit the geometry and weight of the part.
The standard production cell is available in configurations and weight capacities to align with individual shop needs. Additional configurations are available.
