OPEN MIND Technologies Celebrates 25 Years

OPEN MIND Technologies AG, a developer of CAD/CAM software solutions, is celebrating its 25th company anniversary this year. "It was founded in 1994 and grew from just 20 employees to over 300 personnel located throughout the world in sales and service subsidiaries in 15 countries.

"Notably, OPEN MIND developed the world's first CAD/CAM system utilizing an automatic multi-axis simultaneous machining strategy for mold and die, as well being the first developer in the industry to provide auto-indexing, and strategies for using conical barrel cutters and 5-axis helical drilling," said a company spokesperson. "The company continues to be at the forefront of key and emerging technologies, such as providing integration with additive manufacturing processes and supporting Industry 4.0 initiatives."

"We are pleased to continue our tradition of embracing the latest technology and innovation to provide superior CAD/CAM solutions," said Dr. Josef Koch, CTO and one of the founders of OPEN MIND. "OPEN MIND has significantly shaped and driven forward the development of modern 5-axis simultaneous machining in tool and mold manufacturing, and is successful in a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, energy, medical and more."

"In addition to providing a high-performance tool path solution, OPEN MIND's hyperMILL software offers connectivity to CAD systems, feature and macro technology, tool management systems, automation, simulation, probing and more," continued the spokesperson. "Each year, two new software releases add enhanced functionality to the hyperMILL software suite to meet the industry's latest machining challenges."

Volker Nesenhöner, CEO, OPEN MIND Technologies AG, said, "We continually seek out new approaches and technologies to meet global manufacturing challenges, and we are very proud of our employees and accomplishments over the past 25 years. We have over 10,000 customers and 20,000 hyperMILL installations worldwide, and are looking forward to continuing this momentum."

"We are thrilled to be part of this milestone year," said Alan Levine, Managing Director of OPEN MIND Technologies USA, Inc. "In addition to sustained growth, our sales, engineering and service team in North America is dedicated to providing customers with an optimal CAD/CAM solution together with outstanding technical consultation and service." OPEN MIND's North American subsidiary was established in 1996.
