Vise for CNC Production, Toolroom Applications
February 1, 2017
"Kurt's DX6 CrossOver vise achieves new levels in workholding strength and performance where flatness and parallelism are critical," said a company spokesperson. The DX6 CrossOver vise is designed for the precision requirements of CNC production to toolroom applications. DX6 is interchangeable with Kurt's D688 vise with the same bed height and distance from keyway to stationary jaw.
The DX6 CrossOver vise uses a crossover of features from both the AngLock and Pull-Type designs from Kurt's D688 and 3600V vises, combined with a new four-bolt stationary jaw. When combined, the resulting combination of forces are: AngLock design creates all-directional clamping alignment and downward force reduces jaw deflection; Pull-type design reduces stress in the body and maintains flatness after assembly; four-bolt design reduces stationary jaw deflection and alleviates body stress.
With enlarged holding capacity, the DX6 CrossOver vise features a full 9" jaw opening within the inside jaw position. A light and narrow vise body with a footprint of 7.391" wide x 16.810" long allows more vises on the machine table. The vise body also provides chip evacuation straight through the body at the sides and end of the vise to prevent chip build-up.
Additional DX6 CrossOver vise features include: 80,000 PSI ductile iron body, nut and movable jaw, a semi-hard steel screw; and a hardened vise bed; and jaw plates. Mounting is easy with many options through the body, side clamping ears, locates on 40 mm, 50 mm, 2" grid patterns and on a Kurt D50-4-SA swivel base. A GrooveLock jaw plate and workstop are included for part positioning. A large bearing pack adds to longer life and the new brush seal is designed for easier removal or replacement in the nut.
