High Speed VMC with Rotary Trunnion

Sharp-Industries' SVX-300-C is a high-speed VMC featuring true 5-axis simultaneous applications with a no backlash Abico cam roller rotary trunnion table made in Japan and a FANUC 31i-B5 control, also made in Japan.

The standard version of the SVX-300-C is equipped with a 2-axis, 11.81" rotary trunnion table, with a table load of 330 lbs. and an A-axis travel of -120° to +30°. The C-axis has a continuous 360° rotation. The maximum workpiece dimension is 22.7" in width and length x 16.7" in height. The machine features XYZ axis travels of 29.92", 23.62" and 19.69" respectively.

The spindle includes a large-diameter, BIG-PLUS spindle design that uses four-piece, P4-class, high-precision angular-contact ball bearings to increase spindle rigidity and maintain accuracy during high-speed machining.

The machine provides fast interpolation, with a high-linear speed of 1,417 IPM on the X-, Y- and Z-axis. The cutting feedrate is 393.7 IPM. The 40-taper spindle provides 15 HP with an oil chiller to maintain accuracy. Standard machines have a maximum speed of 12,000 RPM with CTS prepped for 1,000 PSI coolant pump. The SVX-300-C series includes a 24-tool swing arm ATC capacity, a FANUC 31i B5 control for 5-axis simultaneous applications, linear-circular-helical interpolation and manual guide conversational and a 10.4" color LCD monitor.

Specifications of this machine are:

  • X/Y/Z axes position accuracy: +/- 0.0002"
  • X/Y/Z axes repeatability accuracy: +/- 0.0001"
  • A/C axes position accuracy: +/- 15 arc sec
  • A/C axes repeatability accuracy: +/- 6 arc sec
  • ISO 7/24 taper 40, BIG PLUS dual contact
  • 12,000 RPM, 15 HP with oil chiller
  • Direct coupling type spindle
  • Air blow nozzle for cutting dry
  • Rapid traverse: X/Y/Z: 36,000 mm/min (1,417.32 IPM)
  • Cutting feedrate: 10,000 mm/min (393.7 IPM)
  • Feed motor (FANUC): X= 4 HP; Y/Z= 5 HP
  • Ball screw diameter, X/Y/Z: 40 mm (1.57").
