Scott Knoy
Walter Friedrich, President of German Machine Tools of America (GMTA), recently announced the promotion of Scott Knoy to Vice President. GMTA is a supplier of machine tools, lasers and parts washers to the automotive power transmission, gear and other markets in North America.
Knoy joined GMTA on July 1, 2005, when the company was known as American Wera. Since then, Knoy has played a large role in the growth of the organization. Knoy was particularly instrumental in helping GMTA secure a Global Purchase Agreement with General Motors, according to Friedrich.
"Scott has also played a key role in keeping the business running smoothly, especially during the last several years as we opened our facility in Mexico," Friedrich said. "Between myself as President and Scott as our Vice President, we will continue to expand our market share, our products and technologies, as well as our great customer relationships and service offerings."
"I am honored to accept the new responsibilities and to continue contributing to the growth of our company," said Knoy. "Gears and the auto industry are in my blood. My dad was in the business and I literally grew up around gear machines."
Knoy will continue to oversee the sales and marketing of the company, in addition to other administrative duties at the Ann Arbor headquarters. He is also very active with AGMA, the gear association. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and also holds an MBA.
