Haas the Official Machine Tool of Haas F1 Team

Haas Automation, Inc. has announced that it is the official machine tool supplier of the Haas F1 Team, and will be along for the ride when the team takes to the track in 2016.

Haas F1 Team will make its debut in the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2016, becoming the first American-led Formula One team in 30 years. Already, many of the precision parts and assemblies that go into building the team's Formula One car as well as into the related equipment needed to run the global 21-race schedule are being made on Haas CNC machines.

"At Haas F1 Team's U.S. headquarters in Kannapolis, NC, the machine shop is constantly buzzing, with complex, high-precision parts, large and small, being made by American machinists using Haas CNC machines," said a spokesperson. The team currently has 17 Haas machines in its 7,000 sq. ft. shop, including three UMC-750SS 5-axis universal machining centers, four 5-axis VF-5TR and VF-6TR trunnion VMCs, a 50-taper VF-11 VMC, four Haas ST-series Y-axis turning centers and a 5-axis GR-712-5AX gantry router. An additional UMC-750SS and four other Haas machines will also be installed at Haas F1 Team's European headquarters in Banbury, UK.

The Haas machines are currently being used to machine parts for the 60% scale wind tunnel models, as well as components for the team's garage equipment. As Haas F1 Team's cars and race program reach full development, the Haas machines will play an even greater role.

"As the official machine tool supplier of Haas F1 Team, Haas Automation is able to showcase its product to a worldwide audience, and build important business-to-business relationships inside the Formula One paddock," said a company spokesperson.

"It automatically conveys Haas Automation's place among the pinnacle of motorsports," said Gene Haas, President and Founder of Haas Automation, Inc. "When you hear F1' you know exactly what it is a global racing series that showcases the latest technology and attracts the best talent in engineering and design. Haas Automation has an excellent reputation in the United States, and I want to grow that reputation worldwide. Connecting Haas Automation with F1 in name and in practice, when Haas F1 Team debuts in 2016 is the best way to grow our business worldwide and elevate Haas Automation to a premium, global brand."
