Entry Level Magnetic Drill
December 1, 2015
FEIN Power Tools, Inc. offers the JHM Holemaker II portable magnetic drill model. "Although it is an entry-level machine, it has many of the features and same quality of the larger Slugger magnetic drill line," said a company spokesperson.
The Slugger JHM Holemaker II portable magnetic drill is designed for continual use for onsite holemaking or light duty jobs in the workshop. It has holemaking capabilities up to 1-3/8" (35 mm) diameter, 2" (50 mm) D.O.C. using Slugger HSS annular cutters with 3/4" Weldon shanks. "The solid die-cast aluminum construction provides light weight at just 30 lb. (13.6kg) for ergonomic advantages with the strength to stand up to the rigors of onsite construction," said the spokesperson.
The unit has a through spindle coolant feature built for increased tool life. It also features a Slugger MagBot removable coolant tank, which was designed for overhead drilling. The unit can also be repositioned with the cutter attached due to its 4-1/4" (108 mm) stroke.
The JHM Holemaker II has a stable torque drill motor that is built for the challenges of onsite hole drilling by maintaining consistent RPM and torque under full-load drilling, even in high-strength steels. The motor is rated at 1,050 W with a 450 RPM idle speed and 330 RPM load speed. The 7" X 3-3/4" magnet has a holding force of 1,700 lbs. and SmartMagnet technology provides safe drilling on marginal surfaces or thin material. Should the magnet break loose while drilling, the motor will automatically shut off.
Removable feed handles allow operation from either side and an internal concealed motor wiring prevents it from snagging or getting tangled in the workpiece.
FEIN offers a total of 12 different portable magnetic drill models available in 115V and 230V motor options.
