The DryLin Q20 is designed to absorb high forces from any direction.
igus Inc. offers the DryLin Q20 square guide. "The guide's square geometry means the Q20 is rigid around the axis of travel, ideal for applications where the customers only want to use one guide," said a company spokesperson. "They offer adjustable clearance features, allowing the running clearance to be increased or decreased by the customer, depending on the application. Like all DryLin products, the Q20 is based on lubrication free polymers, which eliminate the need for maintenance and allow them to operate in almost any environment. Additionally, the square shaft profiles are hollow, allowing for a convenient space for cables or hoses."
The DryLin Q20 is a size extension of the Q10 series square guide. This size, with a .79" (20 mm) profile edge, is designed for self-supporting and high load applications. Because of its square profile, the company reported that the system is completely resistant against twisting, and the guide can support loads of up to 7.37 lbf in all directions.
"Previous linear guide systems that were self-supporting and resistant to twisting have been achieved at igus with circular models guided with two parallel installed shafts, or via the classic rail guide that is continuously mounted, rather than self-supporting," said the spokesperson. "Now that gap is closed with the DryLin Q20, available as a complete system."
In addition to the adjustable guide carriage, the modular system consists of hard anodized aluminum square profile shafts. These are available in lengths up to 13'. Along with the functional safety on the igus profile, the DryLin Q20 carriage can be combined with all .79" x .79" aluminum systems as well, which are commonly used in machine building. The carriage itself offers multiple options for mounting the assembly to the customer's components through the use of slots and slot nuts.
The square, hollow profile provides space for supply lines, such as compressed air, electricity or fluids, so the Q20 can be used narrow spaces, such as in laboratory equipment like pipettors and small freezer units. The company reported that, because of its space saving and lubrication-free qualities, the DryLin Q20 is frequently used in medical technology.
