Rail Robot for Extended-Reach Applications

Yaskawa Motoman's pre-engineered MotoRail 7 is designed for robotic applications requiring extended reach and high throughput, including: machine loading, material handling, welding, deburring, trimming, deflashing, load/unload of injection mold machines and dispensing. MotoRail is available in 12, 24, 35, 50, 80 or 200 kg payload versions.

MotoRail 7 features a 7-axis design (single-axis rail and 6-axis robot) with high linear traverse speeds and is designed to provide enhanced repeatability. "The 7-axis design reduces cycle times by up to 20% versus competitors' 6-axis rail robots," said a company spokesperson. "Seven axes provide optimal flexibility that reduces installation time in many cases. The rail-mounted configuration allows the robot to service multiple workstations, maximizing productivity and use of capital equipment."

The servo rail is available in many linear travel lengths, from 4 - 32 meters in 2-meter increments. Depending on payload requirements, MotoRail 7 is available with Yaskawa Motoman's high-performance MH12, MH24, MH50 II, MH50 II-35, MH50 II-20, MH80 II and ES200TD robots. A multiple-robot configuration provides increased throughput.

The DX200 controller controls the robot(s) and track. MotoRail 7 products are designed to be easily deployed and can often use existing machine layouts. Rail mounting reduces floor space requirements and allows better access to parts through machine tool front doors or through the top. This configuration also provides easy access for tool changes and part set-ups, and reduces trip hazards. MotoRail 7 can be used for identical or progressive operations at multiple machining cells.
