The Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT) and Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken (VDW) announced the launch of the International Additive Manufacturing Award (IAMA) competition.
Applications for the IAMA are being accepted now through Dec. 31. Rules, submission guidelines and additional details can be found on the IAMA website www.additive-award.com.
The annual IAMA recognizes innovations in additive manufacturing for industrial applications. These include developments in the design of systems or major components, advances in processes or materials, new applications and data generation or measurement. People in the industry - such as system producers, users, component suppliers, data modelers and international academia - are invited to apply. An international panel of jurists from the media, industry and academia are scheduled to choose the winning entry.
"The global manufacturing community is paying close attention to the many new technology breakthroughs in the additive manufacturing sector," said AMT President Douglas K. Woods. "As more companies move to expand the capabilities of this technology and more end users find production solutions leveraging additive manufacturing, the landscape of manufacturing will evolve at a pace the industry has not seen in a generation. I hope this award inspires additive technology innovators from around the world to submit their best ideas for the future of this promising technology."
"It is my hope that the IAMA will turn the world spotlight on the pioneers and top performers in this high-tech manufacturing sector," said VDW Executive Director Dr. Wilfried Schfer. "VDW is pleased to join AMT in a global competition that can ultimately benefit the entire industry."
The IAMA winner will receive a $20,000 cash prize and a media package valued at $80,000 to promote the winning development. The award will be presented at the Manufacturing for Growth meeting on March 4-7, 2015, in Orlando, FL.
