CNC and Robot Integrated Automotive Architecture

FANUC CNC and robot integrated automotive architecture demonstrates connectivity to Rockwell Automation programmable automation controller (PAC) environments.

FANUC America Corporation unveils a CNC and robot integrated automotive architecture demonstrating connectivity to Rockwell Automation programmable automation controller (PAC) environments.

With the release of EtherNet/IP field bus connectivity for its Series 3xi-B CNCs, FANUC furthers its commitment to open interconnectivity of its CNCs to factory automation solutions. "To demonstrate the simplicity of EtherNet/IP integration and connectivity, FANUC presents a newly integrated CNC and robot automotive machining cell architecture in conjunction with Rockwell Automation. The use of an EtherNet/IP network architecture will allow customers to leverage common tools and technology for device configuration and maintenance across CNC, robot and PAC cell environments. End-users and machine tool builders will benefit from a simplified architecture, improved productivity and actionable information across the entire manufacturing enterprise," said a company spokesperson.

FANUC America's new LR Mate 200iD/7L long-arm robot offers a slim design, 911 mm reach and a seven kg payload. The family of six-axis LR Mate 200iD robots is lightweight and compact, specifically designed for high-speed and precision applications such as machine tending, material handling, assembly, picking, packing and material removal. The intelligent mini-robot features a four to seven kg payload, a slim arm with integrated power, signal, air and flexible mounting (upright, invert and angle) for easy integration.

The LR Mate 200iD/7L picks individual variety packs and places them into stackable totes using FANUC's iRVision's snap-on-the-fly feature. It also checks label presence and orientation on each variety pack by using iRVision's inspection feature with a second overhead camera. The cell showcases the robot's six-axis articulation, payload, and reach capabilities to handle and stack the totes.

FANUC America Corporation provides a range of industrial automation equipment including robots, CNC and motion control systems.
