Concept Machine Tool Hosted SteakFest 2014 Open House

Concept Machine Tool Wisconsin hosted the 2014 SteakFest/Open House at its Delafield, WI, facility April 29 - May 1, 2014. The open house featured CNC machines, measuring and inspection equipment, tooling and software technologies.
The three-day event highlighted brands that included Methods Machines, Nakamura-Tome, Feeler, FANUC, Mitsubishi EDM and Waterjet, Kitamura, Milltronics, Micro Waterjet, Hermle, Micro-Vu, Carl Ziess, Vision Gauge and more.
A few demonstrations included:
- Nakamura-Tome B-axis NTJX CNC lathe that cut a 12L14 steel simulated hip replacement component in 23 minutes in one set-up
- Kitamura 3XG high-precision vertical machining center (VMC) demonstrated how it could cut standing pins with a diameter of only .0027" in NAK80 material
- New Kitamura HX500G box way horizontal machining center (HMC) demonstrated its 20,000 RPM geared head 40 taper spindle with rapids at 2,362 IPM (test cut: 1018 steel, 4" face mill fully engaged cutting at a .125" depth at 560 RPM and 40" IPM)
- Mitsubishi MV2400R linear shaft wire EDM demonstrated 7" thick automatic wire threading in the kerf providing unattended operation.
Over 600 people attended the event. Attendees were able to talk to product experts, mingle with fellow manufacturers, see live machining, measuring and inspection demonstrations, attend training seminars and enjoy steak and beer.
