Compact Gage Computer and Pencil Probe

Marposs Corp. has introduced its Nemo ultra-compact gage computer together with a Redcrown 2 USB Probe.

The Nemo ultra-compact gage computer is designed for use on the shop floor. The unit has intuitive features designed to provide quick and simple programming of measurement applications. It can collect data from traditional measurement devices, including wireless devices, and store them locally or send them in real time on a corporate LAN.

The unit's 5.7" thin-film transistor (TFT) color display makes it easy for an operator to visualize measurement results. The integrated touch screen allows programming and data acquisition without the use of peripheral devices.

"The compact (6.25 in2/16cm2) overall size of the Nemo unit is made possible by the latest electronic embedded architecture," said a company spokesperson. "An integrated micro Secure Digital memory card makes data storage capabilities very powerful to serve internal, external and digital data collection requirements.

"An RISC processor, combined with software developed by Marposs, provides excellent performance and reliability together with user friendliness.

"The Red Crown 2 pencil probe, incorporating the USB-style connector, offers direct connection to proprietary software platforms, enabling plug & play operation. Customers using Windows XP or Windows 7 O.S. will be able to use USBcom application, a simple Marposs software interface with the feel and functionality of a standard digital dial indicator. With PLC and the general host USB, the new line of sensors with the USB interface, can be managed as standard COM by simple protocol commands.

"Red Crown 2 USB is the result of a challenge in the electronic integration with a compact design that is able to manage conditioning interface, linearization function and sampling acquisition all inside the USB connector size."
