New 2-axis NC Surface Grinder
March 1, 2014
Sharp has developed a new line of surface grinders, the SG-2NA Series, that feature 2-axis NC (down feed and cross feed) control that can perform precise plunge grinding, slot grinding and step grinding.
The new control features a user-friendly touch screen with color graphics. The 2-axis NC control utilizes a conversational type instruction that prompts the operators to put in all necessary data. Once the data is entered, the graphics will show the new position of the grinding wheel in the Z- and Y-axis direction. Both down feed and the cross feed motions are driven by AC servo motors and precision ballscrews. The spindle head travels on linear guideways for smooth and highly accurate movements. Table movement (X-axis) is driven by hydraulic system.
The new 2-axis NC grinder can be used particularly for grinding precision slots and ladders, in addition to criss cross and other regular surface grinding jobs. The SG-2NA series has five different sizes, with working surfaces ranges from 7.9" x 18.1" to 15.7" x 39.4" and a spindle to table surface of 3.8" x 20" to 27.6". All models are equipped with front mounted swivel base operating console with portable electronic hand wheel (manual pulse generator) for digital movement of the spindle and cross feed saddle.
