Tooling System and Advanced Gear Solutions

EXSYS Tool, Inc. will showcase its line of PRECI-FLEX toolholders and line of high-quality EPPINGER gearboxes and custom gear-making services for a variety of applications.

"PREC-FLEX is an innovative tooling system with a single base holder and multiple tooling adapters that utilizes the ER collet pocket," said a company spokesperson. "It offers a fast, accurate and cost-effective solution for lathe tooling changeovers."

The short, compact design provides maximum torque transmission and rigidity, resulting in increased machining accuracy and improved productivity. Additionally, PRECI-FLEX's conical and flat-face planar interface allows the use of either an adapter or a standard ER collet, and enables collets, end mill holders, expanding collet chucks and shrink-fit tooling to be mounted on a single base holder.

Available in a range of sizes, every PRECI-FLEX toolholder offers repeatability within five microns. The system also virtually eliminates machine downtime and allows tooling adapters to be interchanged between fixed and rotary base holders for fast, economical machining.

 Among its spiral bevel-style gearboxes, EPPINGER offers BT (bevel torque) and BM (bevel maximum torque) compact spiral bevel gears that bring enhanced torque and efficiency to gear applications that require a high degree of reliability and variability. Each bevel gearbox type offers minimized tooth clearance and optimal transmission properties via precision axes and bearing seats combined with GLEASON bevel gears that can withstand high loads.

 EPPINGER's planetary gearbox line offers PE (planetary eco) and PP (planetary precision) planetary gearboxes for applications that require low backlash, high efficiency, shock resistance and a high torque-to-weight ratio. With a modular design that combines precision-ground gears and precision gear components, these gearboxes are designed for enhanced performance efficiency and maximum uptime. They are also energy efficient and easily mount to a variety of motors.

 For its planetary bevel gearboxes, EPPINGER offers BP (bevel planetary) planetary bevel versions that combine features of the company's BT series bevel gearboxes with the pre-stages of its PE planetary gearboxes, creating an innovative solution for various applications. The stable housing design and hardened, super-finished gear components of these gearboxes help ensure smooth running and constant backlash control.

 Well suited for both specific and highly dynamic applications, EPPINGER's HT-type hypoid gearboxes feature a compact, robust design that incorporates specially developed aluminum mono-bloc housings with high-precision bearing seats and an integrated input shank. "These hypoid gearboxes provide unmatched stability, accuracy and efficiency," said the spokesperson. 

 To round out its gearbox product portfolio, EPPINGER develops and manufactures cycloidal gearboxes. These compact, high-transmission gearboxes are a suitable choice for tool machinery, automation and robotics. "With integrated support bearings and a high-overload capacity, they excel in applications that require the utmost stiffness, performance and efficiency," said the spokesperson.

 In terms of custom gear-making services, EPPINGER, with more than 20 years of experience, can develop and manufacture virtually any type of gear. The crown gear diameters can range from 0.4 mm to 330 mm, depending on the transmission ratio. Examples include professional-quality, high-performance bevel gearboxes as well as ring and pinion gear sets.
