Clamping System and Rotary Tables

Tecnara Tooling Systems, Inc. offers the Kawata TOUCHDEX as well as Kitagawa MR, TX and TT series rotary tables.

The Kawata TOUCHDEX is a fully mechanical unit; it indexes automatically and is synchonized with the user's NC program. It needs no power cables or digital interface. According to the company, the TOUCHDEX is not motorized, so it requires only minimum space and can be quickly installed.

"The Kawata TOUCHDEX uses a locking pin that automatically fixes the workpiece with a clamping force two to three times greater than an ordinary friction brake," said a company spokesperson. "The Kawata TOUCHDEX can tackle heavy milling, end milling, drilling and tapping jobs with precision and consistency.

"Indexing accuracy is less than 30 seconds (cumulative). Repeat accuracy is ±3 seconds. The TOUCHDEX clamping system ensures zero backlash for the life of the unit.

"Additionally, by aligning two or more TOUCHDEX units, multiple workpieces can be machined simultaneously."

The TOUCHDEX is available in a variety of models, including:

  • FDR model for clockwise and counter-clockwise operation
  • Minimum indexing angle in two options: 1° or 5°
  • FDM model for vertical or horizontal installation
  • Maximum indexing angle with full pushbar stroke in three options: 15°, 45° or 90°
  • Tilting model integrates two units for five-face machining on vertical machining centers (VMCs)
  • The Vicedex model enables three-face machining in a single operation.

Rotary Tables

Tecnara offers a full range of Kitagawa side and rear-mount models, multi-spindle models, vertical models and TT-series tilting tables with built-in rotary joints.

The TP530 rotary table is designed for the oil, gas and aerospace industries. This light and compact rotary table can handle pipe and other workpieces up to its 13.6" (345 mm) through-hole diameter.

"All Kitagawa rotary tables feature a large worm gear module that provides a large area of contact between the worm and wheel gear," said the spokesperson. "An enhanced alloy is designed to further reduce wear. A cross roller bearing prevents displacement under load. Accuracy is guaranteed to within 15 or 20 seconds in most models."

TX-Series tables also feature a built-in air booster for maximum clamping force. Inductosyn or rotary scale option is available for most models. Motor covers are air-purged to keep out moisture and foreign materials.
