Powerhold Inc. now offers MMC series 2-jaw spring-to-grip stationary chucks, manufactured by Grip of Castelleone, Italy. The MMC Series is a self-centering chuck that does not require hydraulic or pneumatic supply. A push-button on the side of the chuck can be actuated by a separate fixed piston to release the part. "This makes it ideal for use on 4th or 5th axis tables where robot load is desired, but where there is not room to add a rotary union to actuate the unit," said a company spokesperson. "Simply index the chuck to a known position, fire the piston to open the chuck, load the part and then release the piston to clamp, all in just seconds."
The MMC comes in two sizes, a light-duty 2.5" unit that can hold with 50 lbs. grip force and a heavy-duty 7" model that can hold with 2,500 lbs. grip force. A variety of designs can be provided with each chuck.
Grip also manufactures 2- and 3-jaw air and hydraulic double-acting stationary chucks, as well as 2- and 3-jaw air or hydraulic grippers. Powerhold is the exclusive provider of Grip workholding products in North America.
