Extended Stroke Clamping Range of Chucks

SMW Autoblok Corp. has introduced its newest technology for the oil country and tubular goods marketplace, the model BB FZA 2G chuck. This newest version features an extended stroke clamping range.

"The 3 + 3 technology takes the laborious set-up out of pipe threading and rethreading by employing three centering jaws with axial adjustment of the centering position of the pipe with 1-1/2 inch stroke while also utilizing three compensating clamp jaws with rapid and controlled clamp stroke," said a company spokesperson. "The second generation is available in two sizes, 740 mm and 920 mm, to cover the industry typical pipe diameter range. It also employs a short clamping cycle due to a new higher efficiency actuation system coupled with standard stroke and pressure controls.

"This chuck and its features allow customers to see a marked increase in production output with little to no operator intervention and without the re-boring or re-shimming of jaws from part to part."
