Reno Machine Acquires TM Industries, Boosts Manufacturing Capacity

(l-r) Paul Henney, General Manager at TM Industries, and Antonio Occhialini, Vice President of Operations at Reno Machine

Large-format CNC-based manufacturer Reno Machine has announced the acquisition of TM Industries, LLC., a contract machine shop formerly owned by Pursuit Aerospace. The acquisition marks a significant milestone for Reno Machine, who will take on TM Industries' key customers, including PCC, BAE Systems, General Dynamics Electric Boat and GE Aerospace.

Located in East Berlin, CT, TM Industries is a 55,000 sq. ft. machining site that has specialized in the development and production of large power generation components since 1963. Like Reno Machine, its core competencies include 3-, 4- and 5-axis milling and large diameter turning. This alignment in capabilities made TM a natural fit for Reno.

Since 1957, Reno Machine has been a leading manufacturer for aerospace, defense and R&D projects at a large scale, with machining capacity for parts up to 12' in diameter and 35' in length for industry giants including Sikorsky, Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace and Commonwealth Fusion Systems. The acquisition of TM Industries expands Reno's capabilities even further, now having capacity to machine components that are up to 20' in diameter and 60 tons in weight.

"The expansion represents a step forward in our manufacturing services, allowing us to scale operations at an even larger capacity," said Antonio Occhialini, Vice President of Operations at Reno Machine. "We are extremely impressed with the highly experienced and skilled employees at TM, and our team looks forward to a strong collaboration on both existing and new business opportunities ahead."

This strategic growth reflects Reno Machine's ongoing commitment to provide high-quality contract machining support services that are unique to the New England region.

"When looking for a buyer it was critical for us to ensure a strong alignment in values and business ideology, especially a shared commitment to retaining jobs here in Connecticut," said Jacqueline Gallo, EVP of Operations and Shared Services at Pursuit. "We are confident that Reno Machine will honor our roots while openings doors to growth and long-term success for our employees and customers."

Of note, Anthony Micacci, the founder of TM Industries, began his manufacturing journey as Reno Machine's very first employee back in 1957, making this acquisition not just a strategic move, but a deeply meaningful full-circle moment that honors decades of shared history and craftmanship between both companies.
