CNC Coolant & Lubricant Leveraging Supercritical CO2

Pure-Cut and Pure-Cut+ from Fusion Coolant Systems bring a sustainable, advanced cooling and lubrication system to machine tools. Using supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2), the technology is designed to lower overall carbon footprint and increase performance.

Pure-Cut uses additive-free CO2 in its supercritical state for dry machining and is suited for the medical industry and other applications where 100% clean environments and precise surfaces are vital. CO2, by itself, offers similar performance results to traditional flood coolants, with the added bonus of 100% clean, dry machining, the company reported.

Pure-Cut+ uses supercritical CO2 plus minimal lubrication and offers a solution for cutting applications where faster speeds and longer tool life could greatly impact the bottom line.

"Major improvements over alternative cooling and lubrication solutions include longer tool life, shorter cycle time and precise surface finishes," said a company spokesperson. "Users also eliminate machining-induced risks of dermatitis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, various cancers and many other health problems."
