Enhancements to Serial ASCII and Ethernet ASCII Gateways

Real Time Automation offers its serial and Ethernet ASCII to Allen-Bradley PLC gateways with enhanced throughput performance and User-Defined Type (UDT) troubleshooting. The 435NBX, 435USB and 490NBX gateways are RTA's signature solutions for moving ASCII serial and Ethernet barcode, weigh scale and RFID data to Allen-Bradley PLCs.

The enhancements to the 435NBX, 435USB and 490NBX gateway features an overall throughput of five times its previous performance speed. Now, update rates will be 15 ms to 20 ms instead of its previous performance speed of 80 ms. Another enhancement is the ability to perform PLC troubleshooting via a newly added UDT.

"These additional features and upgrades are going to make a big difference for our customers using serial or Ethernet ASCII in their applications," said John S. Rinaldi, founder and CEO of Real Time Automation.

One enhancement specifically for the 490NBX gateway is the ability to communication via User Datagram Protocol (UDP). This feature allows customers to use yet another type of Ethernet technology in their application.
