Key Bar Chuck for Weight Reduction
February 1, 2016
Building off the successful design of its DURO-TA manual chuck, RÖHM Products of America has launched the DURO-TA XT, which utilizes a combination of weight reduction, compact design and workpiece accessibility and flexibility. This design enables maximum utilization of a machine tool's potential while also allowing clamping of higher workpiece weights.
"Through the use of extended and easily detached guideways, RÖHM doubled the clamping range of the DURO-TA XT and made it more flexible to use," said a company spokesperson. "The chuck is designed to make it easy to quickly change between large and small workpieces, which reduces set-up times and costs. Additionally, through the direct mount on the base body, the guideways guarantee high rigidity, stability and protection from dirt and dust," said the spokesperson.
With a weight reduction of up to 75%, the DURO-TA XT allows a machine tool to be used to its maximum potential. The weight reduction also reduces energy costs and minimizes spindle wear for even further cost savings. The manual chuck's design also minimizes interfering contours to increase flexibility.
"In addition to boosting machine utilization, productivity and cost effectiveness for manufacturers, the DURO-TA XT supports RÖHM's global economic and ecological responsibilities as a partner of the VDMA Blue Competence initiative," said the spokesperson.
