GD&T Evaluation Software Released

KOTEM, a division of Quality Vision International (QVI), has announced the worldwide release of SmartProfile 3, the latest version of its 3D GD&T analysis software.

SmartProfile dimensional analysis software is used by metrology professionals worldwide to evaluate measurement data for GD&T compliance. According to the company, it provides fast, accurate analysis of part measurements compared to a part's CAD model, and can be used to confirm design intent and GD&T compliance for Shape, Form, Profile, Orientation and Location on any rigid part, helping to increase yield and save money. SmartProfile complies with all current GD&T standards - ASME Y14.5 - 1994, ASME Y14.5 - 2009 and ISO 1101 - including multi-tier position and profile tolerances.

SmartProfile works with point cloud data from virtually all coordinate measuring software packages, allowing direct comparison of measurements made using differing techniques, or at different points in the manufacturing process, in one common format. "Aerospace and medical device manufacturers have saved significant amounts of time and money by incorporating SmartProfile into their global manufacturing/supply chain workflow," said a company spokesperson.

Other features of SmartProfile 3 include:

• Ability to import many popular and native CAD formats, including IGES, STEP, STL and VDA files.
• An updated Help system that displays quick tips and explanations on request, and includes links to sections of ASME Y14.5 for further details.
• Fully flexible graphical and text reporting, complete with an interactive live preview so changes can be made quickly and easily.
• A customizable configuration that allows users to organize window layout to suit their preference.
